2014 Fourth International Conference: School in the Library – The 1st Teacher Librarian Training Program Graduation Ceremony and Reading Program Sharing Event
In 2007, the Chen Yet-Sen Family Foundation started to support primary schools in Hefei in nurturing the schools’ reading culture. In 2012, the Stone Soup Happy Reading School Alliance in Hefei was established, 20 schools are now in the alliance and to promote “happy reading” on campus as well as at home.
In November 2012, the Foundation and Baohe Education & Sports Bureau jointly launched the 1st Teacher Librarian Training Program for the Stone Soup Alliance. After 18 months of training, 34 teachers completed the course in 2014. Alliance schools are now even more committed to make the library become the learning resource center and combine the library resources with teaching based on happy reading.
The Conference presented the reflections as well as results of the Training Program, and guests from the United States, Taiwan and Hong Kong also joined to share their experiences and further the group’s learning.
