First International Conference: Read to Learn: School Library Development in China
In December 2006, the Foundation commissioned a research team consisting of Mr. James Henri, Mr. Peter Warning and Ms. Angel Leung to conduct a study on the library and reading programs funded by the Chen Yet-Sen Family Foundation in Mainland China and Africa, with the goal of developing models for launching library and reading services effectively in rural China.
At the 2007 ‘Read to Learn’ conference in Hong Kong, the findings of the research team were shared to provide participants with a critical analysis of best practice models for school library implementation in developing countries. The conference brought together a broad range of participants, including policy makers, donors, researchers, practitioners and service providers.
