Second International Conference: School Library Development in Rural China – Getting the Basics Right

The 2009 ‘School Library Development in Rural China’ conference in Shanghai brought together a broad range of participants, including policy makers, donors, researchers, practitioners and service providers.

It provided a structured opportunity for those involved to share their experiences about implementing programs to encourage and facilitate reading for pleasure among young people in school and community settings in Mainland China, and to critically analyze models of best practice.

The progress of the Foundation’s project on “Implementation and Testing of Pilot Reading and Library Service Models in Rural China” was also presented.
